First, your board should be stored in a clean, dry place. Your PVC inflatable SUP is very durable, but permanent moisture will get the better of your board, and this could create delamination and unwanted mold.
CLEAN AND DRY YOUR BOARD
To avoid rolling out a stinky, moldy board next season, always wash your board thoroughly with clear water, a soft cloth and a suitable cleaner. Then, it is important to let it dry in front of a fan overnight to remove any moisture on the surface. This also applies to your accessories; ankle strap, paddle, fins.
SWOLLEN OR DEFLATED?
It all depends on your space and your preference!
Some riders can't stand the idea of storing their favorite inflatable paddle board and prefer to leave it inflated, ready to go. No problem, after washing and drying your board well, just lower the pressure of the board (3-4 psi) in order to reduce the tension on the seams/joints. This way, you can leave your board in its natural shape, so it won't have bad folds in spring.
However, if you don't have the space you have two options:
1. The SUP burrito.
It's pretty simple and very intuitive as a technique. Basically, you just roll your board so that it's not too tight so that it looks like, you guessed it, a burrito. This technique ensures that your board won't have bad wrinkles at the end of the winter and also helps to keep the seams from peeling off.
2. Storage in the bag.
If space is very limited, the best thing to do is to store your board in your carry bag.
When using this technique, it is important to fold your board properly, as all the wrong folds will appear in the spring. To properly fold your board, we suggest you start from the nose to the fins, making sure each fold is straight. Then, store your board in your carry bag, always with the fin boxes facing up, with all the accessories on top, in the prone position. This will reduce the tension on the side seam and avoid having a pump-like bump on the board after sitting on it all winter. General tip, don't stack anything on top of your carry bag in your storage area.
STORE IN THE RIGHT PLACE
Ideally, a temperate and dry area should be chosen in order not to damage the adhesives of the board by exposing it to great thermal changes or to too much humidity.
Also, avoid UV rays from direct sunlight, as they can fade your board or alter its colors. To preserve your board, store it in a place where it will not be exposed to sunlight.
